1. Who is this supplement designed for?
Our Chewable Lutein is designed for any adult looking for a convenient and tasty way to get more lutein in their diet.
2. Can I get lutein from dietary sources?
Yes. Lutein is found in the highest concentrations in dark leafy greens like kale, spinach and swiss chard. One tablet of Chewable Lutein contains 22mg of combined lutein and zeaxanthin, slightly less than one cooked cup of kale (23mg), but more than one cooked cup of spinach (20mg), or one cooked cup of swiss chard (19mg). No other dietary source contains more than 15mg of lutein and zeaxanthin per cup.
3. What are carotenoids?
Carotenoids like lutein and zeaxanthin are plant pigments that give plants red, orange or yellow colors. They are also a class of phytonutrient with antioxidant effects.
4. How can free radicals damage our eyes?
Free radicals are unstable molecules that can interact with the structures of our cells, stealing electrons and potentially killing cells. In a general sense, free radicals can harm or kill cells in our eyes, degrading eye health and performance over time. More specifically, free radicals can damage the proteins in the lenses of our eyes potentially leading to the development of cataracts.
